Administrative Assistant (Part Time)
Hockley and Hawkwell Methodist Church is on Main Road in Hockley and is one of the churches in the Methodist Southend and Leigh Circuit. It is led by a Minister who also has charge of the Methodist Church at Rayleigh, where he lives.

Vacancy
The Church is looking to appoint an administrative assistant to undertake specific and general administrative duties for the Minister, worship leaders and office holders of Hockley and Hawkwell Methodist Church. The post will be based at the Church, but it is expected that a good deal of the work may be carried out at home. 

Job Description
Deal with email and phone queries relating to the work of the Church, its Minister and use of the building, in liaison with the Lettings Officer and Property Steward, responding by letter or email. 

Work remotely with Dropbox/Cloud for ease of communication with the Minister and other office holders. 

Prepare and present Excel files for various record keeping purposes, along with spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. 

Prepare and send notices about particular events around the Circuit and act as co-ordinator for those events. 

Maintain computer records of Baptisms, Funerals and Weddings as directed by Minister.  Compile, complete and copy reports (including the annual report of Church organisations) and annual statistic returns.

Other work as specified by the Minister and office holders. The post holder will report to the Minister.

Personal Requirements
The successful applicant will be expected to have       
*  proven administrative ability;      
*  numeracy, computer literacy and IT skills; familiarity with social media    
*  good communication skills and attention to detail;     
*  an appreciation of the confidential aspects of the work;      
*  the ability to work independently on their own initiative but also to be flexible and work as part of a team
*  the successful applicant will be required to be DBS checked

Period of appointment. 
This is a 2-year fixed appointment.  

Remuneration. 
The hours are variable week on week but on average are expected to equate to 4 hours per week for which payment will be made at an hourly rate of £9.00
